United Martial Arts Hosts USA Sanda Team Members in Preparation for Pan American Championships in Brazil

In the previous weeks, athletes from all over the country traveled to Lubbock for the opportunity to train with United Martial Art’s very own Coach Ian Lee. These individuals qualified for the opportunity to represent team USA after their performances at the USAWKF National Championships hosted by United Martial Arts here in Lubbock over Memorial Day Weekend.

These athletes come from various marital arts backgrounds such as Sanda, MMA, Muy Thai, JiuJitsu, Kickboxing and Kung Fu. They all have made the trip to have the opportunity of learning from Coach Lee and his 30 years of experience in the sport of Sanda in preparation for the Wushu Pan American Championship in Brasilia Brazil, which will take place at the end of July.

Over the past few weeks Coach Lee and his assistant coach, former multiple time national champion Bruce Wang, led the newly named USA team members in a fighter focused training camp. Sessions included strength / conditioning, sparring, track work, pad sessions and detailed technical training from Coach Lee himself. “Coach Lee’s knowledge and experience is one of a kind” said Vincent Meng the current USA national champion.

After the success of this recent camp, United Martial Arts and Coach Lee plan to continue to host such training camps in an attempt to continually grow the sport of Sanda and aid in the improvement of the USA team.

From here at United Martial Arts in Lubbock, we would like to wish Team USA good luck in Brazil and a special Thank you to Coach Lee and Bruce Wang for making this training camp possible!!!
